Research group Dynamical Systems

Our research group focuses on the investigation of the long-term behaviour, complexity and stability properties of time-dependent systems. These may be given by differential equations, the iteration of mappings or more general group actions.

Do it yourself fractalsExternal linkde An online generator for fractal attractors of iterated function systems has been programmed by Marta Imke in the context of a student project. It provides a convenient tool that can be used in the context of fractal geometry courses and for other purposes.

New DFG-project: Finite topomorphic extensions of equicontinuous systems The DFG has approved a new research project on `Finite topomorphic extensions of equicontinuous systems', aiming at a deeper understanding of broad classes of dynamical systems in the regime of low and intermediate complexity. Examples include mathematical quasicrystals, quasiperiodic Schrödinger cocycles or strange attractors created in nonsmooth bifurcations (as shown on the left).
